Reading with mom

Introducing K'uychi's mom! Finally I decided to expand K'uychi's family by adding her mom, Sofia. She's an anthropologist and she's constantly giving lectures all along the country and neighboring ones, too. The little free time she has she prefers to stay home and spend some time with her little Rainbow, K'uychi.

When Sofia was pregnant of K'uychi she decided to give her that name because at that time she was giving a lecture about pre-columbian cultures in South America and she learn the word in Quechua (several indigenous ethnic groups in South America who speak a Quechua language (Southern Quechua mainly), belonging to several ethnic groups in South America, especially in Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia and Argentina.) for the word “rainbow” and she knew she’d call her daughter like that.

When K'uychi was little her mom used to read lots of myths and tales from Inca and Southern Chilean people. The tale  she liked the most was the myth of "La Pincoya" a female "water spirit" of the Southern Chilean Seas. The Pincoya is said to have long blond hair, be of incomparable beauty, be cheerful and sensual, and rise from the depths of the sea. If she performs her dance facing the sea, it means that these shores will have an abundance of fish. When she dances facing the mountains, her back to the sea, seafood will be scarce." K'uychi used to ask her mom "Mommy? Am I as pretty as la Pincoya?" Sofia stroked her blonde hair at that time and answered her back "you are even prettier, sweetie"

Nowadays K'uychi is 17 years old and any time she sees her mom home she cuddles next to her and asks her to read for her some interesting stories about ancient cultures from all over the world.
